National school for leadership in education annual conference entitled ‘Knowledge and Skills for the 21st Century

The second meeting with project stakeholders took place as part of the National school for leadership in education annual conference entitled ‘Knowledge and Skills for the 21st Century – the Challenges of Leadership, Learning and Teaching’. At the specific sessions, members of the project team presented the frameworks for fostering academic achievement of Slovenian youths that had at the Educational Research Institute been developed as an aid to achieving the European benchmark in accordance with which ”the percentage of students who fail to achieve basic levels of reading, mathematical and scientific literacy in PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) ought to be under 15% at the EU level by 2020’. The issue of underachieving youths within the Slovenian educational sphere was shed light on from different research and practical perspectives. The basic frameworks of individual approaches were presented and the participants were encouraged to integrate these approaches into their own work, i.e. into teaching and managing schools, whereby they can make their own contribution to fostering the academic achievement of Slovenian youths.
